Inishturk Island
Inishturk, Co. Mayo
Inishturk Island is a small and incredibly beautiful island located 15 km off the west coast of Mayo. It rises boldly from the wild North Atlantic in wall-like cliffs to the northwest and steep hills to the north on which stands the ruins of the old signal tower 688 ft above sea level. Exploring this remote island on foot is one of the most magical experiences in Mayo. The crossing takes about an hour from Roonagh near Louisburgh with O'Malley Ferries and its well worth the trip. Be sure to check out the excellent Community Club which serves great food during the summer.
