Haymarket 1922

The Haymarket Bar, is quite an unusual name for a new pub, so we thought we would share the story behind the name.

The Haymarket Bar 22 as its official known as, comes from some of the fondest memories of the owner Tommy Noone.

He has some amazing stories of seeing the town, its people and The Moy Hotel change over the years.

Originally Boland and Jones pub, where Tommy delivered the milk with his father as a young lad, to becoming the wonderful eclectic modern hotel that now stands proudly lighting up the heart of the town.

Back in 1922 the Haymarket's we're introduced with a weigh bridge straight across from the entrance of the hotel.

The markets we're such an integral part of the community, lively hood of the locals, it brought everyone together. This feeling of everyone coming together was also reflected in the help neighbours, friends, family and colleagues gave the Noones during their starting out on this venture.

After passing the custom gap , which cost 6 pence, you then followed onto the threshold of the Haymarket on your ass and cart, to have your produce weighed.

As they were set up back in 1922 and we launched in 2022 it's felt only fitting for the front bar to be called the Haymarket Bar. A place where once again those from near and far can come together in the heart of the town.
